Emily Johnson is a dedicated Hatha yoga trained teacher with 20 years experience leading hundreds of beginning and continuing students. With experience developing inclusive fitness programs for diverse populations, she has spent many hours dedicating herself to teaching a yoga that energizes and relaxes, that does not deplete or harm, and that works for unconventional students, including the elders, those living with trauma, the injured, and those who do not feel fit enough to practice. Her emphasis on observation of feeling, short meditations, and mindful sequencing helps improve awareness of our bodies and connect simple poses with more advanced postures. Focus on feeling and awareness helps engage us to forge our own paths forward through our personal practice, something akin to engaging with the body mind more effectively, on and off the mat.
A longtime student of yoga, meditation, and other contemplative arts, she gained her 200-hr teaching certification at Kriya Temple of Yoga Chicago in 2012. Her classes combine simplicity and variety, balance, bends and twists as well as more complex variations.
She is an amateur herbalist, songwriter and entrepreneur who co-founded a book rescue you can find here bookdriver.net.
She is currently on the road in the Southern United States, while teaching online and at workshops, helping students restore ease and pleasure to movement.
